MY STORY

About Mindy

My favorite place to be is at the ocean, my toes in the sand, and all of my senses simultaneously stimulated...feelings, smells, sounds, sights, and even  taste. This is where I feel regenerated and peaceful, and ready to take on all that life is..or at least attempt to do that.

Doodling since I could hold a pencil, imagery has always been my expression of choice. We process in images before words. Somehow, as we progress through life, our creative expression often takes a back seat. I'm a firm believer in finding a path back to our images and more basic forms of expression, believing this to be amazingly healing for the heart.

I had the fortunate opportunity of growing up with a father who is an artist. The smell of magic markers holds a significant memory of my childhood, despite the possibility of lost brain cells. Even to this day, as he enters his 90s, he is still an inspiration to me as he continues to display creativity. What a great example of how a true artist has no choice but to keep expressing.

My formal training began while attending art school in California. During that time I was very inspired by my peers, and the variety of mediums they chose to express their individual vision.

I then went on to graduate school to study Art Therapy. This has been the perfect integration of art and psychology. I graduated with a masters degree in Humanistic Psychology.

Through the years, I have had the privilege of learning from people in different settings. It has been inspiring to see that kids, teens, adults, and the elderly, all have things to express that words cannot convey.

My life experience includes raising my three beloved children, who are now amazing adults in their own right.

Professionally I have spent the past 12 years as a Forensic Interviewer. My role has involved asking, listening, and believing children who have been abused and neglected. The strength and will to thrive which I have witnessed is incredible.

So, now I am back to where I began, my artistic expression and the desire to share it with others. I take time to create my own artwork in my studio,       and also facilitate groups where others can connect to their own flow of creative expression.

I believe it is of utmost importance to:

Be genuine...be honest...and be yourself.

Thanks for visiting my website. I hope my work can bring you joy, and also inspire you to follow your heart as you journey through life.
